LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Christmas holiday has begun at the state Capitol building in Little Rock.

Workers erected a 26-foot Eastern Red Cedar on the second floor of the Capitol rotunda today.  Arkansas Forestry Commission workers cut the tree this morning and brought it to Little Rock.  It took 20 men to drag the tree up the thirty steps outside the building to the second floor entrance.

The tree was donated by Mary and Herman Smith of Cabot.  Mary Smith said she was glad they could share the tree with everyone in Arkansas.

The tree will be decorated with 75 ornaments depicting each of the state's counties.  It will be ready for display by Saturday.
