It's Official: Hillary Considering '08 Presidential Bid

DECEMBER 4, 2006 - Posted at 7:26 a.m. CST

ALBANY, NY - It's official.  A top adviser to New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton says the former first lady, of both the nation and Arkansas, has begun active consideration of a 2008 run for president.  The senator has personally asked some fellow top New York Democrats for their support in the event she goes ahead with such a campaign.

Adviser Howard Wolfson says he did not know when Clinton might make a decision on whether to run.

The senator is coming off an easy re-election victory to the seat she has held since 2001.  National polls show her as the front-runner for the 2008 Democratic nomination.
