LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas Republican Party Chairman Gilbert Baker says he plans to seek another term heading the state GOP, despite the party's losses in the midterm election.
Baker is a state senator from Conway. He said he's been encouraged to seek another term as GOP chairman when the party's state committee meets Saturday.
Baker has served as chairman since December 2004. He is not expected to have any opponents in seeking another term.
In November, Democrats swept all constitutional offices with convincing victories. Attorney General Mike Beebe won the governor's race and former Clinton administration official Bill Halter was elected lieutenant governor, reclaiming the top two offices in state government for the Democrats for the first time in a decade.
