Wounded Jonesboro Officer Cleared in Shooting of Rape Suspect

JONESBORO, AR - A Jonesboro police officer has been cleared in an internal investigation into the shooting of a suspect who first shot and wounded the officer.

Officer Christopher Walker, 36, sustained a severe chest bruise from a bullett that was stopped by his protective vest.  Walker was shot at close range by 16-year-old Steven E. Hill, Jr. of Blytheville.

Hill was shot twice in the torso and is now held in isolation at the Craighead County Detention Center of lieu of a $1 million bond.

Hill was suspected in the rape of a Jonesboro woman at gunpoint.  The shooting occured when officers tried to question Hill.
