LITTLE ROCK, AR - Little Rock-based Windstream Corporation has announced it will cut about 180 jobs as it consolidates assets.

The company says it will cut 35 customer service jobs in Little Rock and 30 in Harrison.

Windstream was created when Alltel Corporation spun off its land-line business earlier this year.  The company employs 1,100 people in Arkansas, with 750 of those jobs located in Little Rock.

As part of its consolidation, Windstream is merging 30 engineering locations into six, located in Little Rock; Lexington, Kentucky; Lincoln, Nebraska; Hudson, Ohio; Dalton, Georgia; and Matthews, North Carolina.

The company is also merging 14 customer service sites into three centers...two in Georgia and one in Pennsylvania.
