Blytheville's 'Lights of the Delta' Off to Booming Start

DECEMBER 8, 2006 - Posted at 7:45 a.m. CST

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - This year's Lights of the Delta holiday lights festival in Blytheville is off to a booming start, with more than 10,000 visitors representing 35 states already having gone through the festival.  "We're seeing a big increase in our crowds this year," said George Hubbard, festival chair.  "We're really excited and pleased to see so many people coming through...our crowds have been fantastic."

The festival runs through December 28 and begins at 5:30 p.m. nightly.  Festival goers can enjoy a special treat on Tuesday, Dec. 12 when they show a receipt from any Mississippi County merchant - their entrance fee will be only $5 per car, half off the regular admission price.

"We're able to offer several discount nights due to the generosity of our sponsors," said Hubbard.  "We also wanted to thank our community members for supporting these businesses."

Hayrides through the lights are available by reservation and children can have their picture taken free with Santa on Fridays and Saturdays.  The souvenier stand featuring postcards of the lights displays is open nightly.
