Mid-South Hit with Coldest Weather of the Season

DECEMBER 8, 2006 - Posted at 7:57 a.m. CST

NASHVILLE, TN - Winter is two weeks away, but it feels like the Mid-South is already in a deep freeze.

Temperatures this morning are in the teens in much of Arkansas and Tennessee, with wind chills in the single digits in many areas.

An arctic front is sliding through the region, though it should be warmer tomorrow and Sunday for weekend Christmas shopping.  And, for the most part, it's dry.

Highs today should be in the 30s and around 40 in some parts.

The bitter cold is just about as frigid as it is in the traditional cold cities.  Mid-South lows are about what's predicted for Buffalo and ten degrees or so warmer than Minneapolis.
