Beebe Sets Schedule for Inaugural Events

DECEMBER 15, 2006 - Posted at 12:10 p.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Events surrounding the January 9 inauguration of Governor-elect Mike Beebe include private parties and events that are open to the public.

Beebe's inaugural committee says a party the night before the inauguration, "Painting Arkansas Blue," will be at Cajun's Wharf restaurant in Little Rock.

Beebe will take the oath of office in a ceremony from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the House of Representatives chamber at the state Capitol.

Beebe is scheduled to give his inaugural address at noon on the Capitol steps, though bad weather could move the speech inside to the Capitol Rotunda.  The speech is open to the public, as will be a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Rotunda.

That evening, the "Believe in Arkansas" inaugural ball will be from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Governors Hall of the Statehouse Convention Center.
