Jury Selection Underway in Trial of Corning Chief's Son

Corning, AR-- Jury selection is underway in Clay County for the trial of 38 year old Donald Groning, accused of a racially motivated beating back in April.  Groning is the son of Corning's police chief Jim Groning.

Donald Groning, along with a 64 year old suspect and a juvenile are accused of beating 19 year old Craig Matthews with a baseball bat back in April of this year.   Matthews suffered 20 seperate skull fractures and five bruises on his brain as a result of the attack.  Witnesses claim the beating was the result of a racial confrontation, between Groning, who is white, and Matthews, who is black.
