ARKANSAS-- New estimates from the U-S Census Bureau place Arkansas' population at about two-point-eight-one million people.

That's an increase of one-point-three percent, or about 35-thousand people, from a year ago.

The estimates were released today and are from the Census Bureau's July population figures.

The bureau says the nation's population grew by one percent in the 12-month period, which means Arkansas' growth rate is higher than the national average.
