PORTAGEVILLE, MO - A southeast Missouri native who died in Iraq is remembered in a memorial service in her hometown of Portageville last weekend.

The military says it is investigating the "non-combat death" of 47-year-old Army Major Gloria Dean Davis on December 12.  Details of her death were not made public, only that she died at Camp Victory in Baghdad.

Davis grew up in Portageville, and the military lists her home as St. Louis.

Davis had served in the military for 18 years, and most recently was assigned to the Defense Security Assistance Agency in Washington.

Davis's military funeral was held December 22 at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington.
