Jonesboro Kindergartner Brings Gun to School

Jonesboro, AR - A Jonesboro Kindergartener brought an unloaded handgun to school Wednesday morning.  It was found when a teacher felt something heavy in one of her student's coat pockets.  Inside the pocket was a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun.  The teacher immeadiately contacted the school resource officer who removed the gun from the building.

Steve Singleton, the Jonesboro Public Schools Superintendent gave the media a statement.  In it he states "no students were in danger at anytime during the event.  It appears there was no intent to use the weapon, just show it.  Immediate disciplinary action has been taken, but a final determination will come after the matter has been reviewed."
