GREENWOOD, Ark. (AP) - Two sex charges have been dropped against a former Greenwood teacher who was earlier convicted in a separate case.
Prosecutors filed a motion to drop pending charges against 39-year-old Deanna Bobo. Court records show that Bobo was accused of having sex with the student in 2000 and 2001. The alleged victim is now serving in the military in Iraq and does not want to have to return for trial. Circuit Judge Norman Wilkinson dismissed the case.
In September, Bobo was convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and was sentenced to consecutive six-year prison terms. She was accused of having sex with a male student who was 14 years old at the time.
Bobo is appealing that conviction and sentence.
