Beebe to Participate in Forum on Drug Issues in Newport

NEWPORT, AR - According to a release from the Newport Ministerial Alliance, Governor-elect Mike Beebe will return to his native Jackson County later this month to participate in a "town meeting to discuss the drug situation in Newport."

Set for 6:30 p.m. on January 23, the forum will be a panel discussion led by Mayor David Stewart, Jackson County Judge Kerry Tharpe, Sheriff David Lucas, Newport School Superintendent Ronnie Brown and District Judge Barbara Griffen.  "Governor Mike Huckabee is expected to be in attendance, as are state Senator Jack Critcher (D-Batesville) and state Representative Tommy Dickenson," according to the release.

The forum will take place at the Newport High School auditorium and is being sponsored by the Newport Ministerial Alliance.
