Speaker Calls for Respectful Dialogue as House Opens Session

LITTLE ROCK, AR - House Speaker Benny Petrus (D-Stuttgart) opened the House session today by addressing the Arkansas chief justice, saying the Legislature would do its part for the public schools.

Petrus called Chief Justice Jim Hannah by name and asked him to look at "the evidence" at the end of the session that the Legislature has met its obligation to fund education.  Hannah was present at the session to swear in new legislators.

Petrus implored legislators to create pre-kindergarten programs. invest in alternative fuels and improve economic development.
