Memphis Man Fatally Shot while Walking His Dog

JANUARY 9, 2007 - Posted at 7:30 a.m. CST

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Memphis man was shot and killed while walking his dog with his wife.

Police said a man armed with a gun approached Raymond Brady and his wife yesterday and tried to force Brady into a van in the Frayser area. Officers said as Brady fought the attacker, the man shot him and drove off in the van.

Brady died later at the Med.

He had worked for 33 years as a civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers.

Colleagues say he used his skills to help people all over the country, most recently working along the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.
