WASHINGTON - In what's being touted as a major victory for American's seniors, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed the first part of Congressman Marion Berry's legislation requiring the Secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices on behalf of seniors enrolled in the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit.

Berry has been among those members of Congress leading the effort to reform the program since he served on the Medicare Conference Committee in 2003.
