PINE BLUFF- A Pine Bluff woman is being held on suspicion of negligent homicide after a 14-year-old girl was struck and killed as she crossed a highway after getting off a school bus.

She is also being held on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

39 year-old Shannon L- Dopson is accused in the death of Elizabeth Cimprich, an eighth-grade student at Watson Chapel Junior High School.

Officials say Elizabeth had just gotten off her school bus on Arkansas 79 Thursday when a sport-utility vehicle driven by Dopson struck the girl, killing her.

Dopson kept going and was pulled over a short time later after witnesses called police with a description of her vehicle.

Watson Chapel Superintendent Danny Knight says children on the bus witnessed the accident, as did Elizabeth's mother, who was waiting at home for her and watching her cross the highway.

Dopson's bond was set at $50,000 after a hearing in Jefferson County.
