ASH FLAT, AR - Authorities in Sharp and Izard County are searching for a Cave City man who was last seen at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday morning in Izard County.

Sharp County Sheriff Dale Weaver says 20-year-old Shane Stauffer reportedly left Izard County early Sunday morning and was believed to be headed back to his home in Cave City, but has not been seen since.

Weaver says authorities fear that heavy rains and flooded roads may be a factor in the disappearance, and Sheriff's Department employees, rescue workers and volunteers have looked for Stauffer along the Piney Creek.

There is also a theory that Stauffer may have been on his way back to Conway, where he was a college student.

Stauffer is approximately 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighs 178 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.  He is believed to be driving a 2000 red Chevrolet Blazer with Arkansas licence tages 162-KCJ.

Anyone with information about Stauffer's whereabouts is urged to contact the Sharp County Sheriff's Dept. at 870-994-7355, or the Izard County Sheriff's Dept. at 870-368-4203.
