LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Beebe is expected to provide his proposed budget to legislators this week.
Legislators are taking today off for the Martin Luther King Junior holiday. When they return to work tomorrow, they should see how Beebe plans to fund state agencies and handle the state's projected $843 million surplus.
Beebe said in his first major speech as governor that he believes much of the surplus should be spent on the state's public schools.
Beebe also wants legislators to cut the state sales tax on food by 50 percent to three percent. He also wants to set aside $50 million for economic development.
