Beebe Makes First Visit to Jonesboro as Governor for Alberto Culver Groundbreaking

JANUARY 17, 2007 - Posted at 7:27 a.m. CST, updated at 12:03 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - Ground was broken this morning at the site of a $60 million Alberto Culver plant that is to be built in Jonesboro.

Governor Mike Beebe and other officials were on hand for the start of work at the hair products plant, which is expected to employ 400 people.  The event marked Beebe's first visit to Jonesboro since being sworn in as the state's new governor last week.

Alberto Culver announced last month that it would build the 500,000-square-foot factory, to be built on 80 acres in the Craighead Technology Park.

K8 News had a crew at this morning's ceremony, and will have a full report tonight on K8 News at Six.
