LITTLE ROCK, AR - The top officer of the Arkansas National Guard, Major General Ron Chastain, is being replaced.
A spokesman for Governor Beebe says Chastain is to be replaced by a Beebe appointee.
The 56-year-old Chastain, who served in the Iraq war, has held his post only since July 15, when Major General Don Morrow retired upon reaching the Pentagon's age limit of 64.
Beebe spokesman Matt DeCample declined to say who would replace Chastain.
However, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports today that Chastain was told Thursday by Beebe that his replacement would be Major General Bill Wofford of Conway. As a civilian, the 57-year-old Wofford worked as director of operations in the attorney general's office when Beebe occupied that post.
