PANOLA COUNTY, MS - U.S. Air Force officials this morning are trying to figure out what went wrong after two airmen on a Columbus (MS) Air Force Base training jet ejected safely before their plane crashed in rural Panola County yesterday.

The jet went down about 40 miles south of Memphis while the pilots were on a low level training exercise.

The plane crashed in a swampy area and debris was scattered in a muddy field.  Geese are suspected of contributing to the crash.
