CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Nestle Purina Petcare plans to close its cat litter plant in Cape Girardeau, cutting about 40 jobs from the city's economy.
However, they will be offered the opportunity to stay with the company.
Nestle Purina officials say they plan to transfer a few jobs to the company's manufacturing plant in Bloomfield, but most of the affected employees will be given a chance to relocate to the company's headquarters in St. Louis.
The closing of the Cape Girardeau plant is expected to start in June and be completed by the end of August.
