Last week Alberto Culver officially broke ground on a new facility in Jonesboro that will have a very positive impact on the regional economy by adding 400 jobs when the facility opens in 2008.
There are certainly issues affecting our communities and there are areas where strong leadership is lacking. However, we should be thankful that is not the case when it comes to the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce and City, Water and Light.
When new companies locate to this region you'll notice that these organizations are always the first to receive a word of thanks from the newcomers. We get to enjoy the wonderful announcements and all the associated benefits, but these folks are the ones who make it all happen.
With any business it is critical to search out new clients... and these folks are out there representing all of us by selling the benefits of NE Arkansas. It is especially important to land these new businesses so we can offset negative changes like last week's announcement that Great Dane is downsizing.
