LITTLE ROCK, AR - Former Governor Mike Huckabee is the target of an ethics complaint accusing him of violating state law by ordering the destruction of the hard drives of computers used in the governor's office before he left office. The complaint was filed yesterday by Jim Parsons, a self-described gadfly from Bella Vista.
Huckabee used the remaining $13,000 from the governor's emergency fund to destroy the hard drives. He said the step was taken to protect state employee privacy, such as Social Security numbers.
That action also drew criticism from the Democratic National Committee. The DNC said Huckabee, who filed yesterday to form an exploratory committee for the 2008 presidential race, had a "questionable ethics record."
