Huckabee Received $3,250 in Gift Cards from Staff, Cabinet

FEBRUARY 2, 2007 - Posted at 7:50 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Best Buy and Lowe's stores benefited from the departure from office of former Governor Mike Huckabee, as members of his staff and cabinet pooled resources to give him a sendoff with gift cards.

Financial disclosure documents show Huckabee received $3,250 in gift cards from his staff and cabinet.

The 45 members of Huckabee's cabinet pooled their money to give the outgoing governor a $2,500 gift card to Best Buy.  According to forms filed with the Secretary of State, Huckabee's staff gave him a $450 gift card to Lowe's in August and a $300 gift card to Best Buy in December.

Alice Stewart, the former governor's spokeswoman, says that none of the members of Huckabee's staff or cabinet contributed more than $100 to the gift cards.
