SARCOXIE, MO - A northeast Arkansas man who died in a weekend crash in Lawrence County is being mourned in southwest Missouri.

Roger Glen Loyd, 47, of Osceola, had just spent a week as a volunteer clearing the debris from Missouri's paralyzing ice storm.

Loyd was killed Saturday while headed home after helping to clean up Sarcoxie, Missouri.  He and his traveling companions were part of a Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team that had wielded chain saws to clean up about 140 yards in the city.

The driver and another man were injured when the car went out of control and crashed into a tree.

In the past five years, Loyd saved his vacation time to travel to places like Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama in the wake of weather disasters.

"Glen" Loyd was laid to rest this morning in Mississippi County.
