Bootheel Couple Formally ID'd as Victims in Alabama Plane Crash

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A couple from the Missouri Bootheel have been identified as the victims in the crash of a small plane in Alabama.

Larry and Suzanna Masters left Hornersville in a Cessna 172 early Friday.  The plane was headed to Marathon, Florida.

The Civil Air Patrol began a search when relatives in Florida reported the plane overdue.

The wreckage was spotted Monday afternoon in a wooded area west of Birmingham during a helicopter search.

There was no immediate word on why the plane went down.
