Measure Advanced That Would Cut Sales Taxes on Manufacturers' Energy Costs

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Senate's Revenue and Taxation Committee advanced a measure today that would cut sales taxes on manufacturers' energy costs.

The proposal is part of a negotiated deal between governor Beebe and others pursing alternative tax cuts.

The bill by Senator Barbara Horn would reduce the sales tax on energy purchased by manufacturers from six percent to 4.5 percent, beginning July 1st.  The proposal would then drop the tax to four percent on July 1, 2008.
