Seven Jonesboro Drug Suspects Plead 'Not Guilty' to Federal Judge

FEBRUARY 14, 2007 - Posted at 7:27 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Not-guilty pleas have been entered in federal court at Little Rock by seven Jonesboro residents facing charges that accuse them of drug trafficking between Arkansas and Texas.  The seven who entered their pleas yesterday were among ten people arrested Monday on a four-count indictment that alleges they conspired to distribute heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

The judge allowed three to go free without bail and ordered two to home detention.  A sixth person was ordered held, pending his trial, while a seventh defendant is expected to get a bond hearing later this week.  Another three named in the indictment will be arraigned later.

Other arrests are expected.  An April 2 trial date has been scheduled.
