Authorities Still Awaiting Identity of Body Found on Batesville Railroad Tracks

BATESVILLE, AR - A partially decomposed body found in downtown Batesville Monday morning remains unidentified at this time.

The body was discovered east of the Poke Bayou bridge shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, by an employee of the Missouri-Pacific Railroad.

The body has been sent to the state Crime Lab for an autopsy.  Meanwhile, the Independence County Sheriff's Dept. is reportedly following up on a couple of local leads in the case.
