LITTLE ROCK (AP) - A school officials organization has voted to support Governor Beebe's proposal to provide $19 million more for public schools in the upcoming biennium.
The Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators voted yesterday to support the package outlined by Beebe on Tuesday.
Beebe's proposal calls for raising aid to districts by $108 per student in the first year and by another $106 per student in the second year. Currently, the state funding amount is $5,662 a student. The increases sought by Beebe would raise that to $5,770 for the 2007-2008 school year and to $5,876 dollars in the following school year.
