FORREST CITY, AR - Officials say a Forrest City police officer had to shoot a pit bull terrier that was attacking firefighters who were battling a trailer park blaze.
The fire was at the Southside Trailer Park early yesterday. Forrest City Officer Morris McNutt says firefighters asked him to shoot the dog because it kept running at them as they tried to spray water on a burning mobile home. The dog was also charging to where the water was hitting the home.
McNutt says the dog paused to fight with another pit bull that was secured by a chain. He says he shot the animal when it took a break from attacking the other dog.
The dog's owner, 54-year-old Arnetta Johnson, was cited for keeping a vicious dog in the city and for not having city tags for the animal.
