Two People Shot in Downtown Jonesboro

FEBRUARY 26, 2007 - Posted at 7:39 a.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - Shots rang out in downtown Jonesboro early Sunday morning, leaving two people wounded and police searching for a suspect.

A double-shooting on the parking lot by Julio's Restaurant, 311-B North Main Street, left a man and woman wounded.

Julio's co-owner Julio Diaz told K8 News that there was a fight inside his business, which also serves as a private club, about twenty minutes before the shooting occured at approximately 3:45 a.m.  However, he claims there's no proof that any of his patrons were involved in the shooting.  "I'm not saying that there wasn't a shooting on the back of my premises, okay.  But, you know, they (police) supplied no showcases, no evidence to me...no card," said Diaz.

The injuries to the victims are not said to be life-threatening.  The victims are identified as 22-year-old LaTaurus Gordon and 31-year-old Eric Sharp, both of St. Louis, MO.

The JPD continues to investigate the incident.
