GREELEY COUNTY, KANSAS - A Batesville man died Saturday in a freak accident that occured in blizzard-like conditions in Greeley County, Kansas.

Robert Hughes, 55, was killed when a tractor-trailer rig jacknifed on Kansas 96, crashing into two of three vehicles that were stopped in a blinding snow storm after a previous non-injury accident.  The rig hit Hughes as he was outside his SUV exchanging information with the other drivers involved in the initial accident.

The Kansas Dept. of Transportation closed many roads in the state due to heavy snow and winds that left several snow drifts up to seven feet deep.
