LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Governor Beebe says Arkansas needs a million-and-a-half dollars in emergency federal funding to help storm victims in Desha County -- and some of those trailers being stored by FEMA at Hope would help, too.
A tornado that struck Dumas on Saturday wiped out dozens of homes and businesses.
Beebe said yesterday that he had asked the White House for the aid, as well as for use of some of the eight-thousand trailers being stored at the Hope Airport by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The trailers were originally bought to shelter survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
