LITTLE ROCK, AR - A Forrest City man suspected of using a fake police badge to rob out-of-towners has been arrested by Little Rock Police.

James Charles Williams, Jr. was arrested after a traffic stop yesterday.  He's being held on outstanding charges, but police believe Williams used a phony police badge to rob a number of people.  Investigators are looking at robberies that occured between Little Rock and West Memphis and are investigating alleged links to Williams.

Police confiscated a fake badge when Williams was arrested.

Truck drivers traveling through the state were often the victims, with the suspect approaching them at motel rooms.

North Little Rock police spokesman Sergeant Terry Kuykendall says the agency is looking at 16 incidents.  West Memphis police say they have seen six similar thefts in the past six months.  Jacksonville police are looking at two robberies from the past weekend.

Kuykendall says he believes there are other victims who have not come forward and urges anyone else who was robbed to contact police.

Williams was picked up just hours after North Little Rock police issued an alert that they were seeking him.
