JONESBORO, AR -- It's a new low to report...Jonesboro police are looking for a thief who robbed women while they were in church services Wednesday night.
Three women who thought they were going to worship ended up filing police reports, but could it all have been avoided?
"At three different churches, at three different locations, we had three different vehicles broken into," said Lt. Nathan Oliver of the Jonesboro Police Department.
And three different women all became victims of theft during Wednesday night church services in Jonesboro.
"All of them, either the side windows were either broken out with an unknown object or pried open and purses stolen from the vehicles," said Lt. Oliver.
No leads yet in the cases...but it could be a copycat crime that happened recently.
"It just so happens that a few months ago we had a large number of similar incidents happening all over town at a lot of different churches," said Lt. Oliver.
JPD did make an arrest in that case, but it's a lesson learned the hard way.
"You should never leave things of value in plain view, particularly purses. Either lock them in your trunk or take them with you," said Lt. Oliver, "Just don't leave anything of value in plain view."
