WASHINGTON - A new report out today says that the percentage of "modest-income" families who are offered health insurance through work is down to 47 percent. The Robert Wood Foundation says that's a nine percent drop over the last ten years. The foundation says the figures shows the greater need for state children's health insurance programs like the "ARKids First" program in Arkansas.
Nationwide, the foundation said nine million children are uninsured. Texas had the highest percentage of uninsured children, at more than 20 percent, while Vermont's rate was below six percent. The foundation said that about ten percent of Arkansas children are uninsured.
