New Bill Passed On New Young Driver Restrictions

LITTLE ROCK - A bill setting new limitations on young drivers passed the Arkansas Senate today in a 26-to-four vote. Senators supported the bill by Senator Jimmy Jeffress, a Democrat from Crossett. The bill limits those with driver's licenses under the age of 18 from the state's roadways between 11 p-m to 5 a-m The bill also limits the young drivers to having only one passenger with them _ unless they're siblings _ and blocks them from using cell phones while driving. The bill was previously defeated in the Senate but Jeffress remoevd a portion that would have required a teen to be 15 before getting a learner's permit.
