House Votes Down Plan To Change Presidential Election Process

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas House voted today against a plan that, had other states gone along, could have changed the way the nation elects its presidents. Representative Monte Davenport wanted to driect Arkansas' members of the electoral college to vote for whichever presidential candidate won a majority of votes nationwide, reguardless of how that candidate fared in Arkansas, but the house rejected Davenport's bill one a 45 to 51 vote.
