Mountain Home Senator Rushed to Hospital Following "Cardiac Episode" at Capitol

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Republican state Senator Shawn Womack suffered a "cardiac episode" at the state Capitol this morning and was taken to a hospital.  Senator Gilbert Baker said Womack was taken to UAMS, where doctors were running tests.

Womack is 34 years old and a Republican from Mountain Home.

Womack fell ill this morning and not at a meeting of the Joint Budget Committee, where he is a co-chairman.  He was taken from the Capitol by ambulance to a Little Rock hospital this morning.

According to Baker, Womack suffered the "cardiac episode" about 8:30 a.m.   Baker said that people who have seen Womack said the senator was doing better, but that he shoudln't have visitors.

As the Senate opened its meeting this afternoon, Tracy Steele of North Little Rock asked for prayers for Womack.
