Senate Leader Predicts Session will End Next Month

LITTLE ROCK, AR - While the leadership of the Arkansas House remains adamant on leaving by March 30, the leader of the Arkansas Senate has introduced a resolution to keep the session going one week longer.

Senate President Jack Critcher, a Democrat from Batesville, said the measure he offered yesterday would allow the legislature to go an additional week later only if it is needed.  House Speaker Benny Petrus, a Democrat from Stuttgart, however, has repeatedly said his side of the legislature will hit the March 30 deadline.

Critcher has said the Senate will not focus on a specific date to conclude its business.
