Senate Panel Endorses Trauma Network

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A Senate panel today endorsed a bill that would help create a statewide trauma network...despite warnings that Governor Beebe wouldn't support the measure.

State Insurance Commissioner Julie Benafield Bowman said she had the authorization to tell the Senate's Committee on Public Health, Welfare and Labor that Beebe did not support $12 a year in fees for each insured car in the state to fund the system.

The bill now moves to the full Senate.  A different version of the bill, which would have allowed judges to levy additional fines in moving violations and drunken-driving convictions, previously passed the House.
