Newport Woman Killed in Car/Train Accident

SEDGWICK, AR - A Newport woman was killed last night when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a freight train in Sedgwick.

According to an accident report from the Arkansas State Police, the accident occured at 5:05 p.m. when a southbound car on Lawrence County Road 635, driven by 24-year-old Briana Arford of Newport, pulled into the path of an eastbound Burlington Northern-Santa Fe freight.

Arford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County deputy coroner.
