Arkansas Groups Raising Awareness of Sexual Assaults

LITTLE ROCK, AR - April is Sexual Assault Awareness month, and two Arkansas groups say victims need to know help and protection is available for them in the state.  At a news conference yesterday at the state Capitol, representatives for the Arkansas Commission on Child Abuse, Rape and Domestic Violence and the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault launched an initiative to raise awareness of sexual assault.

Helen Jane Brown, executive director of the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault, said less than a third of all sexual assaults are reported to police.  Brown said that, in order to end sexual assaults, commonly accepted myths will have to change.
