Man Charged with Taking UPS Van after Spat with Girlfriend

HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - So, what can brown do for you? For Richard Pickron, it put a black mark on his criminal record.

The 21-year-old Pickron is accused of trying to steal a UPS van in Harrison after having a fight with his girlfriend and getting out of her car early yesterday. Police say Pickron walked to a nearby depot and began to drive off in a delivery van. He stopped when a UPS worker stepped in front of the van.

Pickron ran away but  the UPS worker chased him in the van but lost him. Officials say Pickron called his girlfriend to pick him up and, later, a deputy stopped the woman's car for a traffic violation and found Pickron.

The UPS driver identified Pickron, who was ordered held on $10,000 bond after being charged with theft of a vehicle, breaking or entering, and public intoxication.

United Parcel Service Incorporated is known for its brown vans and has as its slogan, ``What can Brown do for you?''
