City to Host More Than 75 Youth Basketball Teams for National Tournament

JONESBORO, AR - More than 75 youth basketball teams from across the nation will descend on Jonesboro later this month for for what is being dubbed as the "First Annual Battle in the 'Boro" basketball tournament.  The three-day YDA Hoops Basketball Association event is set for April 27-29 and will be staged at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro High School and the Parker Park Community Center.

"This event will be a jewel for the city of Jonesboro and surrounding communities, said Cathy Nutt, assistant tournament director.  "Jonesboro has been unbelievably gracious in its efforts to bring this event to our city and we are very appreciative."

The tournament is being corporately sponsored by Liberty Bank.

At least 75 teams (ages 13-17) from as far away as Milwaukee, Wisconsin, are committed to the event, which will showcase approximately 25 of the top 150-ranked prep basketball players in the nation.  More than 200 division 1 college basketball coaches have been extended invitations to the event, and many of them have already committed.

Tournament passes will be available at the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce.
