SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Southwest Missouri authorities say they stopped a Springfield man's plot to kidnap, rape and kill two girls and kill 12 other people.
Police arrested 52-year-old Randy Rust after a roommate found notes about his plan and alerted police. Rust is in the Greene County Jail on $200,000 bond on two felony counts of attempted child kidnapping.
Detectives searched his home and found some of the supplies for his plan, including whips, handcuffs, duct tape and a camera.
Police say the intended victims included Rust's ex-wife, her sister, the sister's adult daughter and that daughter's minor children.
